Have a loud rattle when idling; I think it's coming from the crankshaft pulley. Do these fail? Are they difficult to replace?  Seems like you need to access it through the wheel well.

Any advice or ideas would be helpful.

The crankshaft pulley can disintegrate, a lot of x type owners have replaced the old pulley and tensioner with a new Kit and they fitted a Genuine jaguar kit as some owner's have had Trouble with Aftermarket Kits. The new Pulley is thicker and stronger and you need a tensioner tool when fitting the Belt.

Did you get my message about this Post.

Regards Tom.

Hi Tom, thanks for your help.

I've been looking for the new upgraded kit here in the US and can't seem to find one anywhere. I even looked up genuine Jaguar parts and they only offer the original design for the crank pulley. Any ideas on where to pick up a new kit?  Sure appreciate your help and advice.  Thank you!

Isn't the upgrade kit for the 2.0/2.2 diesel?

As Johns777 says this kit is an upgrade for 2.0 and 2.2 Diesel x types. ( part number for Diesel Kit. C2S51547 )

Yeah, mine's not a diesel so it won't work. I'll just get a new crankshaft pulley, tensioner system and pulley and belt and go from there, see if that takes care of it. Thanks everybody!

Hi Don.

Have you checked the Air Conditioner ( Compressor ) or the Alternator as i believe your one will have a Clutch Pulley and i don't know if these Alternator Pulleys can become noisey.
