Hi wonder if anyone can help

I've just purchased a 2001 3.0 S type as a bit of a project 91000 miles and quite reasonable

Plugging the OLD reader in it pulls up a misfire on 4 and 6, pulled the inlet manifold off and changed the coils and plugs but managed to pull the inserts off two of the lower manifold securing studs and one was previously snapped off

Found these on flea bay and we're wondering if there is any difference between the 2003 and 2001 engine

Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/112122522100

Thanks in advance

Yes there is a different.

Your engine went from 99 to 5/2005 so make sure you get the same.

Thanks for the info, the flea bay parts are off a 2003 so I'll invest in those

Sorry I had a mistake - 99 - 05/2002 are different from 5/2002 onwards!

Yup, they changed the inlet manifold on the later ones, so I suggest you need the earlier type Eric

The X200 was made from 99-02, which is what we both have. Mines a bit of a rolling restoration which I've had for 15 months now, helluva car for the money and coming on nicely

Oppps! Sorry to hear that Eric, but at least it wasn't £hundreds. Makes me happy to be improving a 15 year old Jag and not a Maserati, Porsche or similar where parts would cost a fortune! Wonder how much an injector rail with inlet manifold would be on a Ferrari, more than £30 I bet!

Just been going though my bills for her, and while they're adding up, and I must stop buying stuff for the moment, it's not too bad, I think I have real value for money, and many of the parts are comparable or cheaper than any old hatchback. I figure it's best to be gathering bits now while they're plentiful, cheap and arguably still undervalued

Yes, plentiful parts at a reasonable price works for me

Ordered a divider of a early 2002 now and next is the abs/traction control/stability issue which I'm hoping is a sensor on a wheel

Then on to the air-conditioning, then the passenger window which makes a noise but nothing happens, then a bit of corrosion on a wheel arch, then who knows....certainly suck you in these cars

Well the breakers sent me the correct replacement part unfortunately it's hopeless, the whole rear corner is burnt and useless so much for inspections

However has gave me chance to fettle a bit and noticed one of the connectors for the cold start system has snapped off, the breather pipes for the head that connect to the airbox are perished and there was a vacuum pipe dangling under the car, on hunting around it appears to go to the fuel pump, the car has had allsorts of idling and revving problems so wonder if that is one of the culprits

So off to order some more bits and hopefully make some progress
