Hi I have a xf2008 I have changed the battery in the fob but know it will not work.will I need to re-programme it and if so can this be done without going to a dealer.

Normally if you just insert the fob in to the holder below the steering wheel this 'mates' the fob with the car.

I have changed the batteries on mine several times and this has worked.
