Hi Iain, and welcome to the club.

Is the EGR valve clogged up? Or even sticky?  That can be cured by using a can of Wynns EGR Cleaner at under a tenner.

If the valve is totally broken, perhaps and XF owner wth the same model, or indeed, an X type owner with the 2.2 diesel could assist.

Let us know how you go.

Regards,

Peter.

I've come across this old thread and would like to know if Iain or anyone else could elaborate on how to remove the EGR valve for checking/cleaning. I'm also looking at inserting a blank (with a 10mm hole) on the exhaust feed inlet flange, so would appreciate any step by step procedures and/or photos, as I haven't seen anything which covers the XF 2.2 diesel (2014 model) despite scouring the internet. I can see the flange but it is not easily accessible and looks like quite a lot of adjacent equipment may need to be disconnected/removed to get an adequate access for sockets.

Peter. Are there any guides on using the Wynns egr cleaner? Do I still need to dismantle the egr valve on a 2012 2.2 diesel xf, or is there a simpler way?

Thanks!
