Hello

I'm a new member and this is my first post. My car is a 2010 XK 5 litre, a wonderful car.

However, on selecting ignition/start a chime sounds and last for several seconds.

Does anyone know why? (it's not the seat belt warning chime)

It's very irritating and I would like to switch it off but can find nothing in the owners handbook that refers to it.

Hi Frances,

I have a 2002 XKR. Mine chimes as it goes through the self check on starting. I don't think you can turn it off easily.

Hello Stuart

Thanks for the reply. I have asked many people but no-one seems to know why. Friends with standard 4.2 XKs don't have it, so it's interesting that you have it on an XKR.

Your observation makes sense - but why?

It's 10 irritating chimes and I'd like to turn it off.

Regards, Francis
