After just a couple of months of owning our XE have had to have the windscreen replaced due to a very nasty chip and crack!

This was done by autoglass this morning

However, since then every time I start the car the wipers sweep over once! There's no damp so can't understand other than it's set to auto

Any suggestions what the issue might be?

Thanks in advance

Hi Mark,

My car does the same. I always leave my wipers on auto so I assume thats why. I quite like that they do that because any leaves or water/damp that may be there just gets wiped away without me even thinking about it!

Hope this helps,

Closely inspect where the sensor has been reapplied to the screen just in case there an air bubble or adhesive giving a false reading? As Ward says if the vehicles parked outside this can happen so it's not a good practise to leave set to auto especially this time of year with possible over night frost. Plus with you living in London there's a good chance of being ambushed at traffic lights by the 'wash your screen brigade' and your end up with a tangle of busted wipers! I personally only use this function if following in slow traffic causing spray.
