satnav upgrade

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking to add a touch screen satnav to my car, is there anywhere I can get the proper part codes for my car by using my vin number.

I have seen plenty of these units for sale second hand and just want to make sure I get the right one to install.

To actually answer your question Jim, Yes, it can be done.

If you have digital heating / climate control, it is a bit of a faff though as you need to build a loom up or, better still have access to a donor car.

It is well worth doing, though, in my view, giving you a beautifully integrated and reliable infotainment suite, just as Jaguar intended. I personally find the sat nav, climate control, bluetooth, voice integration to be just fine. Adding the Audio Connectivity Module allows the use of USB, iPod etc.

Being in the same geographical area as Denis and myself, if you chose to go ahead with the retro-fit, I'm sure we could help :)

If you have rotary heating controls I understand it can be done but it isn't something I'd consider to be fair.

I think this is a worth while upgrade, especially if you thinking of keeping it for a good while

I have a s-type with the touch screen and premium alpine sound and would say its quite a good sound system, sound quality is very good, especially if you can drop on a audio connectivity module, which allows you to plug in a ipod, aux input and a usb flash drive and play mp3's through the touch display and through voice control.

and as for the sat nav, 2012 is the newest map you can get, but its quite a good system for its age, puts some other sat nav's to shame, if you could get up to date maps, it would be a great system, once you get use to it

It integrates USB, iPod, RCA audio etc with the touchscreen control and car's audio system Gary.

For example, I have my entire audio collection on my iPod which sits in my centre console.

Ideal if like me you listen to operas or long audiobooks as you don't have to switch CDs or CD cartridges.

As Joe mentioned, I also have the Premium Alpine sound system and between them they are perfectly satisfactory for  me.

Takes about an hour to fit.
