Hi all I'm a proud XF owner and was browsing the net for info on updating my sat nav and found this forum. I'm not sure you have many women on here but I figured at least I have the right car to join. I'm actually a car lover and have owned a large variety of cars from English classic to American classics to many many different everyday cars. I moved from BMW's to Jaguar and I'm pretty smitten with them. I've always dreamed of owning an Aston but I drove one on a driving experience recently and was happy to get back in the Jag. Anyway, I look forward to being part of this community.

Hi Tracy, welcome to the Club!

Which XF have you bought? I had the XF3.0D S Portfolio and absolutely loved everything about it!

I only sold when I retired, and my needs changed.

I don't know how long you have had your XF, but for me the smile remained on my face, and I still smile when I think about it.

As for Satnav updates, buying from a Jaguar dealer is predictably expensive, and I used one (for the XK) which I bought on the internet. It appeared to be the official disc, but I am not sure whether it was genuine at the price. It certainly worked without any problems.

I am not sure that we are allowed to give specific details of the supplier under forum rules, given the possible issues involved.

Welcome to the club, Tracy.

Yes, there are quite a few women driving Jaguars and who are also cub members.

Sat nav updates are something that many members discuss, and indeed always seem to get them from other sources than a Jaguar dealer.  When I bought my s type I was advised by the salesman at a main dealer that you could get a new one from various sites on the internet, as Jaguar sold them for circa £160.

I did this and the one I got cost me £29 including P&P, and it works fine.

And to David, getting to know a good supplier is something the members like, and specific details are allowed.

Regards,

Peter.

Thanks Peter. I will try to recall exactly where I bought the disc: I have checked through my emails, but failed to find it so far...

Hi I have the 2.2D Luxury  but it has lots of extras on it, I originally nearly bought a portfolio but this one has more gadgets than the one I first saw so that won for me. I believe I need a USB instead of a disc for mine as it's the facelift model (61 plate)?

Ah right: I assume that when you go to the websites and enter the vehicle details, it will come up with a USB stick for yours where it came up with a disc for mine.

Hi Peter, thank you, lovely to hear there are other women on here (not that there's anything wrong with men obviously!). I will have a look online for the USB then, thank you

The facelift model satnav is up-dated via USB 2011-Used the Denso system untill 2014 then changed to the IGO Primo system. Care is needed when upgrading as though on a 2014 plate the car could have sat in the dealers for months. It's not a lot of help now? But as part of the deal at time of purchase I would have request FOC it was up-dated.
