I've just bought a 2009 3.0 S with the uprated B&W audio etc...

What i need to find out is if the Jaguar Voice is a separate module or a case of enabling voice via a laptop.

I have dealer level diagnostics at home in the form of IDS, as i have come from a Ford to the Jaguar and cut my teeth on diagnostics and module programming on Ford Denso units, bluetooth & voice control etc.

I;ve run an initial session on IDS on the Jag, but cant find the parameter for enabling Voice Control, which i thought the XF would have as standard.

I have read certain forum posts over the net relating to dealers turning this option off due to issues.

Therefore, can someone point me in the right direction as to whether or not its a separate module i need or to modify the CCF files to enable it.

Thanks in advance

Alex

My 2011 3.0 D doesn't have voice turned on even though the buttons are fitted as standard.  As you say, the parameter setting must be isolated and you, like me cannot find this anywhere!  Perhaps what I was told at Hatfield Jaguar is true - that you have to purchase Voice from new as it comes as a unique fitting that cannot be added to.  That's what they told me anyway!  However, seeing as I now know that company don't always say it as it is, I would be interested if you do manage to succeed in turning it on.

HI, I've just purchased a 2009 XF Premium Luxury that has almost everything on it that I'd want except the Voice Control. I already have bluetooth phone connectivity and Satnav. I am surprised that Jaguar didn't fit this as standard but I suppose they had their reasons.

I want to retrofit the Voice Control Module and would like to know if it is possible and what parts would be required. Having looked around I think that I'd require a VACM and a 5 way D2B lead. Could someone confirm if this is correct and which VACM would fit.

If all of the above is possible then where is it installed, I guess that it is in the boot somewhere but would like to know whereabouts. I don't want to strip all panels out if I only need to remove one.

Any guidance or advice would be very gratefully received.

XF models changed optical network from D2B to MOST around about 2009 so you'd need to check which you have first.

How would I know which system I have?

Disconnect one of your optical network connectors and take a photo and put it on this thread Mark. There are several of us who will be able to identify it for you :)

Mine has a separate voice module Graham:sp_ike: It sits in the passenger seat :argue: No buttons fitted as standard but it can be disabled using gaffa tape:shutup:

I have a little more info for this topic, straight from the Jaguar Tech team as i have a friend who works in the R&D department @ Gaydon.

As follows...

"This is a very large task.

What you have is the MOST Gen 2.0 system. This means you need an external Speech ECU, wiring harness as well as CCF changes. You would need the JLR Integration team to respin a CCF based on your specific VIN.

My recommendation is the system is not worth the investment as even after you have done that the experience is far from natural speech - i.e. it is extremely prescriptive and very limited in functionality. I am also assuming your vehicle already has the microphone and associated harnesses."

What we do know is that Jaguar Voice was a £400 option at time of order, therefore, are we to assume that its a different Sat Nav module that allows Jaguar voice? I will look into this and feed any information back to the Forum.

As most of the modules in the Pre face XF are FoMoco, its based loosely on the MK4 / 5 platform, albeit with MOST networks whereas the Fords are mainly CAN.

If i find anything definitive, i will let you all know

One year and 4 months after my first post...

Finally got Jaguar Voice enabled on my XF.

Massive thankyou to Reg Graham who has been offering advice and direction via E Mail (probably at his wits end now) and pointing me in the right direction with regards to the correct kit and programs to use.

I've temporarily lost bluetooth, which i remember i had an issue connecting to when i first bought the car, but more than likely its a little bit of over excitement when uploading the new CCF file this evening...

I would be interested to know what you had to do.

I am a new owner with a 2013 XF and was most surprised when the voice control did not work. Still trying to find out what all the abbreviations mean (as they are not in the abbreviation download)

Hi all, newbie here, I have a 2011 XF S Premium Luxury and  my voice control does not work! I spoke to Jaguar, gave them my VIN Number and they told me it was not fitted to the model?? I asked if it could be retro fitted and was told no, so I think that is that?

Hi Roy and Welcome to the Club,

That's odd as Voice was an option well before introduction of the XF.

Get in touch with Raistlin, if he does not reply directly to this thread, he can provide a definitive statement for you. He has posted many topics on the subject of Voice so you could also do a search one these as well.

Cheers,

Steve

Voice now works 🙂

Thank to Alex Ward and a little research in the interweb.

The procedure is ridiculously easy as well, notwithstanding the fact that a mistake could brick the car.

While I was looking at the CCF I noticed an entry to change the value of the CD player to one disk, Six disk. That will be my next retrofit.

Hello and good afternoon all Jaguar owner, am proud owner of a 2007 XJ 2.7 executive. I thought mine was equipped with voice, the button exist on steering just for decoration😊. I am curious to know, the voice activation module. Can I ask how can I find out if my Jaguar has the module or not? Is there a place I can call to provide my Vin no and they can tell me, I'd it has the module or not.

2ndly regarding the connector MOST, is this fitted in the boot somewhere, I be honest I don't know much about car audio and I don't want to give my Jag to any car audio technician either.

Can you suggest a Jaguar audio specialist that do not charge sky-high fees and are honest.

Much appreciated

Kamran

I had voice control on a Vauxhall Insignia. Numerous times the Sat Nav reacted by navigating to the village of Pucking Fing

Please be aware that modifying your CCF can render your car immobilized. Therefore the information provided is to be used at your own risk. All I am doing is telling you what I did to my car.

Assuming yours is a facelift X250, search the CCF for "Voice Control" and open the parameters. Choose "Advanced Voice Control" and save the CCF then upload it to your car.

Let us know how you get on 🙂
