Hey everyone. I just brought my 1st Jag. Its an xj 358 sport premium. I collect it on Tuesday. Nice to meet you all.

Can somebody enlighten me as to what the name of this colour is please? Also are the 20s standard on this model?

Hi and welcome

The wheel are Jaguar, seen them on other XJ's, They do look well on the car though, suits it

as for the color, it will usually give a color code on the driver door shut, again a nice choice of color, may be some one will know the colors name

is it petrol or diesel

cheers

Joe

Its the 2.7 diesel. 118,000 miles with fsh and a recent bill of £1000 including cam belt, alternator and some other stuff. More pics to follow when i pick it up. On the log book it says Grey and in some light it is grey but mostly looks purply brownish. Yes its a tidy looking car. Really happy with the purchase.

Hi Gareth, and welcome.

The colour certainly suits the XJ: It looks stunning.

I look forward to seeing more pics when you get the chance.

Enjoy both the car and the club!

Welcome to the club, Gareth.

The 2.7 diesel engine is deceptively quick and a pleasure to cruise in. It also powers the S type.

As Joe has said, the colour code is on the inside of the door pillar, and the metallic element in the colour will change somewhat in the sun.

I hope you enjoy your Jaguar and the club.

Regards,

Peter.

Thanks everyone. Im really excited to collect tomorrow. But i do have some slight worries reading few of the post associated to my model. For instance the DPF and EGR issues. Its silly really because all cars have their flaws but it plays in the back of my mind.

Hi Gareth,

I would not worry the slightest about the EGR valves and the DPF.  In the main, many members post when they have a problem.  It is quite rare to see a post saying "I have never had a problem with EGR valves and DPFs".

I do a small mileage with many short journeys, and the slight issues I have had with the EGR valves being sticky on occasion have been resolved with the use of an additive.

Just get in, switch on the ignition, wait for the glow plug light to go out [about 3 seconds] start the car, and drive away gently. You will be surprised how quiet and easy to get on with.  When the engine has warmed up you can just treat it like a sports car.

Regards,

Peter.

Gareth, don't let the DPF and EGR worry you.

It is always good to read about possible issues, so that you have some knowledge about them, but I suggest that you then just park the knowledge in the back of your mind.

I am just like many others who have read about them, and discussed them on the forum, but who have never suffered any actual problem themselves. The vast majority just bear them in mind, some using additives, some using Shell V Power, and keep everything running perfectly well.

The problems are frequently discussed, but much more rarely encountered.

I LOVE MY JAG. The nav is a bit weird but does the job. And even with the big 20s its like riding a cloud. Im stoked. So happy.

With the older style cars can jaguar update the current systems for instance add DAB radio to my current inbuilt FM/Am radio?  And maybe update the nav to newer software?

Hi Gareth,

The Sat Nav [Doris] can be updated and you can get a 2012 disc from quite a few sources for under £30.  I did when I bought my s type which is the same system as yours and that disc is the last produced for the 2007 model.  I have found the Sat Nav much better than the TomTom I have previously, although, as you said a bit weird. I do like weird things, though!

I am fairly sure that you can update the sound system and there ate several members who can give you some absolutely perfect advice on how to do it.

One of my son's has a 2006 X type and I bought him a widget for £17 which allow him to listen to music on his iPhone, so I am sure you will be able to update quite easily.

Meanwhile, enjoy your Jaguar  ---   We make some very good cars in Brummagem!

Regards,

Peter.
