I am new here so if I am asking stupid questions please forgive my ignorance

I have a Jag X Type 04 plate 2l diesel

I have recently had an almighty shudder thru the car between 50 and 70 which has been cured mostly , I had both drive shafts changed

Additionally new front disks and pads

I have new tyres on the front and both have been balanced

I have had the car checked out thoruoghly and been told all the normal stuff injectors etc are fine

I know the clutch/dual fly mass wheel need replacing but before i spend more money I have one issue that still concerns me

I still have a judder between 50 and 70 but this is different it goes in phases , the judder will be there for about 2 seconds fade away for a similar amount of time and so on hen cruising or accelerating at these speeds

Any ideas tracking does not seem to be somthing that ould have these symptoms and I feel it more mechanical

Any ideas?

Hi

If its 2wd it can only really be one of the wheels, its the only thing big enough to give vibration through the car

usually the propshaft will give vibration through the car, it has to be one of the wheels or a hub, if its been kurbed in the past

some tyre places, like my local tyre place, has a machine that can balance the tyre on the car, it spins the tyre on the car, it might be worth look into that, see if the are any tyre places in your area that have a that facility

cheers

Hi If I remember correctly I'm sure someone somewhere in the past had the same problem ????

He found out in the end that it was a wheel bearing that was the problem ????

Hi Shaun, and welcome to the club.

I had the same problem with a Rover after being potholed.  While the tyre looked OK there was a large bulge on the inside.

I had a wheel bearing problem on a Toyota, as I though, till I found it was the stabiliser bar.

And has Joe said, a visit to a tyre fitting garage could solve this annoying problem quite cheaply.

Regards,

Peter.
