I have decided to treat my X type to a new set of wheels and tyres . I have found a supplier " wheelbasealloys.com " who have a great selection of wheel and tyre packages but i can't make my mind up which ones to go for , i have changed my mind half a dozen times already .  The car is silver and was going to stay with 17" size that are already on it and was looking to spend not much more than £200 a corner including tyres ( Toyo Proxes CF2 or similar ) . Any suggestions would be grateful .

Regards ,

Andy .

Hi Andy.

I would stay with 17in wheels, i've driven a x type with 18in alloys and didn't like it at all had a job holding it in a straight line. I like wheels that are easy to clean(ie not many spokes mine has 5 spoke Barbados alloys) you could keep your present wheels and use them with winter tyres and keep your new alloys for the summer.

Regards Tom.

Hi Tom , i am staying with 17" and will also be looking for 5 spoke , i've got my eye on a few different sets on wheelbasealloys.com who do some good wheel and tyre deals. I'm just going to get some new discs and pads and my calipers painted first.

Regards ,

Andy.

I got some heat resistant caliper paint off eBay and was going to rub them down and paint them myself , but the calipers wern't in fantastic shape so i have taken them off and sent them to BIGG RED caliper specialists http://www.biggred.co.uk/ for a refurb and paint ................

 Finished in Premium BLACK

Premium Paint Process

All calipers are stripped back to bare metal to facilitate casting examination.

Coated with rust inhibitor to resist oxidisation, road salt and chemicals.

Then Two top coats are applied & oven cured, this provides further resistance to chemicals and heat.

The calipers are then rebuilt using 100% new pistons, seals and bleed screws.

Finally every caliper is hydraulically wet tested prior to dispatch & guaranteed hydraulically for 12 months.
