Hi just got car only one key

Have acquired flip key off eBay 5 pounds can get new blade cut for free if serial number supplied this I can do cost 4.99, am led to believe that car will sweet to this new key and my genuine one. The only problem is the transponder I only have the one in the genuine key.

My question is this if I remove transponder from genuine key fix it inside close to ignition lock, remove and dispose of e bay transponder will both keys then work as remote and start car, I am prepared to accept that security of car will be less but total cost would be 9 pound and 99 pence

Hi

It should work, you would have to try it

but most locksmith nowadays can clone the transponder for less than £30 and most can program the existing transponder thats in it, also to the car, and remote at the same time

If there's someone near you with Jaguar IDS/SDD, they can program the transponder of the new/used key to your car and could also program the remote at the same time

cheers

Really didn't know this timpsons in Stevenage want 200 pounds and send keys away as they don't have a machine that can make the extra cut on the jag key. Will keep looking happy to pay 50 or 60 pound will even supply my own flip key, blank and transponder. Anyone out there within 20 miles Stevenage.

That's an hour and a half from my home and a tad expensive,

With what I am thinking about I can end up with as many keys as I want for 5pounds each. Granted if it goes wrong could end up with a bill for over 300 pounds thanks for the information anyway appreciated.

I paid c£60 at my local Chant place for a key cut including the transponder. I have the separate fob which was eBay for £15 and we gave a local independent £20 to program the fob and check a fault code. So c£95 all in which was a bit cheaper than the c£150 the independent wanted to order and program us a new one. Well worth having though, we'd have been stuck without the spare key on a couple of occasions.

Can't comment on your cunning plan, it could work or you could just shop around a bit more :wink1:
