I currently run a Rover 75 Tourer. Previous car was a 75 with a light interior. Current car has a black and dirty looking grey interior which I have never really liked. Plan was to but a 75 with the light interior, swap over interiors and then sell the 'new' car. Then I saw the dash on the X-Type which really appeals. The options were then keep the 75 with a swapped interior, buy a goold low mileage X-Type with the youngest coming up to 8 years old or buy, for the same money, a car that is fairly new that does 35,000 miles per gallon :) Shal start with the X-Type option and see what is out there.

Hi Paul,

I also had a Rover 75 Tourer diesel auto with BMW engine. Great car but 240,000 miles and corroded subframe it had to go.

Now have 2009 X type estate diesel auto with 100,000 on the clock. Really nice car to drive and good performance incl towing our caravan.

Have had a few issues with it like replacing the turbo and egr valve and a couple of injectors. Love the interior with black leather.

I would go for the X type but be prepared for things needing attention. Got spoilt with the Rover!!

Cheers

Hi

Just check every thing works, test all the electrics work

also take it for a test drive and make sure its get up to temperature and the fans kick in

if its a 4wd x-type, I would recommend you get up to some speed , ideally a dual carriage way and 70mph, they you know if it smooth and quiet, you have no drive line issues

also make sure you check the sills, some can rust terrible and are hidden by plastic covers

also have a look here http://www.jaguarownersclub.com/forums/topic/9154-jaguar-x-type-buyers-guide/

Hi

When I was after my car, the one's I liked were all ways far away

If you wait and don't rush into it, One will eventually come up with the spec you want and within traveling distance

cheers

I too had a Rover 75 2.2 Auto Tourer. Beautiful car, had to let it go though as I needed some cash. Second best car I had after a Citroen XM 2.2 Auto. Two vastly underrated cars in my opinion. Now looking forward to my first X Type Jag. Going off what I've read, yet another underrated car. Suits me as it keeps the prices down.
