Hi I'm new member today, I have a S type 04 plate, love it. Not sure if anything one can help I want to get the car phone working it seems you have to have a separate SIM card, this means  me having 2 mobile numbers as the iPhone SIM card  I have is too small for the car phone & is a pain to get out anyway. Most use bluetooth but I'm not a techy. Any idea's ?

Welcome to the club, Tina.

I am not a techie either, but I found that the bluetooth connection very easy, and works perfectly.  I rarely use the phone in the car, however, and never accept a call if I think it would interfere with driving.  When I have a passenger, the passenger may answer or make a call.

I don't think many members use the car phone as in Jaguar.

Good luck,

Peter.

As you surmise Tina, you need a completely separate line to use the in-car phone.

If you have the touchscreen though, Jaguar's bluetooth setup is easy to retro-fit. I can help you with that if required.

Thanks boys, I will have another look at my handbook, thought due to the age,  04 plate , I hadn't thought about the screen being touch screen. Will have a read up & play around and let you know how I get on.

If you've got one large screen in the centre console you have the touchscreen, else, if you have two small screens, one above the other, you don't.

The picture below shows the touchscreen :)

No it's not touch screen. I may just buy a SIM card on a different network to my 02 mobile, that way I hope to get more coverage, unless it is easy on set up the blue tooth.

Raistlin, I'd be interested if there is a retro-fit to the touchscreen to get a bluetooth phone connection running in the S Type, I've been looking at a Parrott or something but with the buttons and elements already in place I really hoped there was a way of fitting something other than a separate system with the touchscreen in place. Can you give me more details, costs etc etc

Where are you located?

Bit far to drive up here to have the job done. (I assume).

If you feel capable, I can sort out the parts you need and send them to you.

Where abouts are you fella, heading Telford way soon 😂 How long does the 'process' take and what's the cost?

I'm in Wolverhampton.

The job should take one to two hours and would include installation of bluetooth, Jaguar Voice, modification of the D2B fibre optics and any setting up required using the Jaguar diagnostics system.

Denis and I don't charge for doing this sort of thing and wil source the parts for you.

bluetooth and Jaguar Voice, will, of course, integrate fully into the car's system, controllable from the touchscreen and steering wheel.

If interested, PM me and we can sort out details :)

hi

does your car have the handset in the arm rest, is that where the sim card goes

if it is, it can be converted to bluetooth, but it also need wires swapping around in the armrest connector and on the phone module

I had the same issue with mine when I added bluetooth

cheers

Hi I'm new today and also have a 2004 s type none nav version with a couple of faults that I am looking forward to rectifying.

I didn't get a book with the car and was also wondering if I need a sim card and if so where does it go?

My car has been lacking in TLC but I will make up for that :winkiss:
