Knocking noise

Hi there I have a 54 x type estate 2.0ltr diesel, recently it's developed a knocking noise when the car is in neutral but as soon as I depress the clutch the noise stops. I have no other issues with the clutch ie: no slipping no problems selecting any gear. Is it as I fear the dmf on its way out or could it be something simpler.

I appreciate any reply

Hi

Sounds like your dual mass flywheel might be on its way

Thats the symptoms for it, the flywheel will rattle and when you press the clutch it presses against the flywheel making it quiet
