Hey everyone, I am on my first Jaguar, had it for a year now.

As a previous owner of an original mini I enjoyed the small acknowledgment all us mini drivers used to give each other; a wave or a quick head light flash when passing by. Given that we are all Jaguar enthusiasts here, I think we should start acknowledging each other with a wave or flash of the lights, I think it adds to a sense of community among owners. Why not give a brief wave to other people enjoying their choice of vehicle?

So if you find yourself in Dorset and some weirdo in a blue XF-R waves or flashes lights at you for no reason, that'll probably be me!

So that's who flashed his lights at me last October!

When on a motorbike all other bikers either wave or nod.

I once had a wave from the driver of another XK8 same colour etc as mine and both of us with the tops down but usually other Jags don't wave. If the Owners Club sticker was bigger or if we had a grille badge they might.:yes:. If they were in the club that is.:biggrin:

I can think back to the days when the AA or RAC motorbike & sidecar fellows saluted a vehicle approaching if it carried the organisation's badge.  If no salute, it usually meant "beware, there's a policeman/car about".

We have (more recently, of course) noticed quite a few fellow Jaguar acknowledgements......both whilst out in our S-type, and more particularly when out and about in our X150 XK. Always dutifully returned, of course, although we have noticed little acknowledgement/response from drivers of later/recent models such as XE, XF which we put down to the fact that a lot of them may be company cars rather than personal pride-and-joy motors.

Whatever, it's good to be in the club and maybe when approaching Gaydon for the Breakfast Meet we could all have a "flashdance" Jaguar headlight session. Then again....:w00t:

:toot::lightbulb:

Happy growling, as always

Where i live there is a lot of not so much waving but one finger salutes between some of the general ( usually BMW  and Audi  ) drivers on the road .:wub: :wacko:

My X350 had a long standing peculiarity ( now rectified) where it would flash the headlights when it pleased. Often at passing German cars but sometimes at Police cars and vans full of totooed builders at traffic lights.:whistling1: .Maybe we should leave it up to the cars to decide if acknowledgements are in order. I'm convinced that they have a mind of their own anyway.

Always like to acknowledge other drivers who have had the foresight to buy a Jag. although it does tend to be marque for marque, however, when I had my XF the only other jag driver that acknowledged me was one who had an identical colour/year to mine (Emerald Fire). So perhaps it's an older car thing.

That said, the XF has gone and been swapped for an 2005 XK8 2 weeks ago, and working peculiar hours/shifts as I do haven't really been out much to see if it works with other XK8ers, hoping it does, I kinda like the feeling of camaraderie, we know why we bought our cars and what they can do; Euroboxes they most certainly aren't!!

I used to be one too, Ron.  I had MGB tourers in the 1960's and we always flashed each other!  You did NOT flash MGB GT's!  Then when the rubber bumpers came out, it all stopped and that killed off the cameraderie.  I think it also killed off the marque.

As far as jags are concerned, there are probably too many of them to flash every time you see one.
