Hi everyone , lust joined the club and looking forward to being an active member. Traded my 2003 X Type Saloon (140,000 miles) for a 2006 X Type Estate (82,000) miles. I know from experience that approaching 90,000 is the usual mileage for Flywheel problems regarding the metal wear shorting out the starter motor. It's great fun when it has blown the fuse and so you cannot get into the boot ! (Keep the towing attachment in the dash !). My question to you engineers out there is - 'Is there a check you can do to gauge the condition of the flywheel' ?

Thanks Everyone.

Hi and welcome

There no check really, they start to make a noise/rattle as they start to fail

When they rattle, they go quiet when you press the clutch

Cheers
