10 year servicing

Hi all

I have a 2007 XKR with 48000 miles on the clock. I've just bought it and love it. It's beautiful!! Just a quick question - it had a service last May and has only done 200 miles since then. It looks like a nine year service was carried out - the 10th year is a big one! Do I need to get this done seeing as it's done such low mileage, or can I go for an interim? As an aside, I put my car details into the Jag fixed priced servicing and they offered 329 all in - I.e eligible for fixed price service but I know the 'r' cars aren't...I'm new to jags being a German marque man before - what should I do?

Welcome to the club, Andy.

I think that you have got a very good car, great style and low mileage.  BUT it has been sitting around for a whole year doing very little and there is a possibility that some deterioration has taken place.

I am from the old school with the motto "Better Safe than sorry" and I would be inclined to have the car serviced snd given a good all round check.

There is also an free App called Vehicle Smart  which will give you the cars MOT History which could also ne worth looking at.

Then just enjoy the Jaguar experience.

What a good choice of wheels!  We were faced with a similar dilemma with our 2007 XK which we bought just over a year ago.  Note that ours is not the R version. Ours had covered just 6600 miles at the time of purchase and, when the annual service came up recently, was still at just 8400 miles.  It had been serviced on time, stamped for each year, even though some years mileage covered was just 100 or so.  We, this year, were likewise due for the 10 year job.

We spoke with Elite and Performance Jaguars at Derby on 01332 265826 who agreed to inspect our XK and advise accordingly.  We had an interim plus air filter carried out.  The chap at Elite said that there was no need to, for example, change the pollen filter.  Most important item each year, regardless of mileage, is, of course, Oil and filter.

As yours is the R, perhaps a call to John at Elite might be a good idea.  You will get honest and straightforward advice from knowledgeable guys.

Hi,

The XKR cars do get fixed price servicing (XK 5.0NA 5.0SC), you can't get the fixed price brake deals if you have the Alcon brakes fitted though.
