Please advise!

I owe Jaguar XJ 3.0 V6 diesel 2010
The main Jaguar dealer are telling me that I need a timing belt replacement, however, when I contacted the main dealer Stratstone from which the car was originally purchased from tells me that the car is chain driven and no need to change.

I am a bit puzzled as my car already done 110 000 miles and it would be the right time to replace timing belt in the case it had a belt , not a chain.

Welcome to the Club, Mov.

My s type 2.7D has a belt, and I thought that the XJ diesel with a similar [the 3.0 litre Diesel is basically the uprated 2.7D] would be the same.  I would take a second/third opinion.

Hopefully `n member with a similar car can give you a definite answer.

Regards,

Peter.

Hi, im about to buy a 2014 xj 3.0 ltr v6 s portfolio sportbrake. Its done 54k miles. I wondered if anyone knows if this runs on a timing belt or timing chain? If on a belt, when i should look to change it as i dont believe it's been changed in the past. Thanks in advance

Hi All

It’s probably a bit late now, but a couple of weeks ago I was thinking about buying a 3 litre diesel XJ and I asked my local Jag specialist if there was anything to be on the look out for. He said as it was OVER 10 years old the BELT MUST be changed EVERY 10 years or 100K miles, whichever comes soonest.

I hope that helps 😃

Cheers
