Hello all

We have an issue with the clutch in the jag at the moment with it being noisey when you depress or gto depress the clutch pedal, it sounds like the thrust bearing is making a noise , so i need some help with regard to what type of clutch i can replace it with, i know it has a dualmass flywheel and clutch that goes with that , but i would like to change it for a normal flywheel if i can, but have heard that it can affect the gearbox if its changed, not sure if its fact or fiction, the jaguar in question is a 06 plate 2.2 deisel, with 6 speed box and id like to keep her runing with out any issue caused by me by putting something in it that could cause any issue, to be honest its my first jaguar and most of my other cars are pre-90s with exception of our mx5 both 92. and a couple of older fords, so the question is can i change to a normal clutch and flywheel, and where can i get it from as most of my motor factors list dualmass for the car , so need help guys.

thanks J,Apps

Hi

you can get solid flywheels, there on eBay

a while ago all flywheels were solid and work very well and never failed

the only advantage with dual mass, is they dampen out small amounts of vibration and you only going to notice when you press the clutch pedal

also if it noisy when you press the clutch its the thrust bearing like you say,

cheers

Joe
