Hi all

This is pretty basic but has anyone any tips for keeping the battery charged. My car only goes out at he weekends as i have to use a van for my work. Struck me yesterday that the stop/start hardly ever kicks in because the battery needs backing up. Wondering what this is going to be like in the colder weather and how I can help.

Hi Jeff,

I have tried a solar charger but it is not very good on the big battery in my Jaguar.

You can get a trickle charger to do the business overnight if you can garage your car, or if the car is parked in an inconspicuous place.

I sometimes give my car a charge if I have not had a longish run, but with the battery being in the boot it can be a bit difficult to keep the boot lid closed.

There must be a good way, and other members might well know it

Regards,

Peter.

Jeff, my usage is similar to yours, and I keep my battery topped up on a CTEK Battery Conditioner every week.

I would really recommend this, if it is practicable for you: It gives great peace of mind, when you know that your battery is always fully charged!

Thanks for the information i will have a look at the CTEK  battery conditioner.

Hi Leo,

Just looked at the CTEK chargers. They look good. Any idea which one id need for an XFRS stop start. Im thinking the MXS 5.0 with auto temp compensater.

Yes, the MXS5 is what most members here go for: It should be a perfect choice for you!
