I've been offered a 3.0l Portfolio XF with 82k and a part SH for under 8k. Bearing in mind one would take all the steps to ensure security etc, is this a no-no practice to be avoided at all costs or is it an accepted method of purchase. 

Ive no experience of this and would appreciate any input.
