I said we would look at this one this week:
https://www.finn.no/car/used/ad.html?finnkode=100818081

Before we went in, I told my fovourite wife that we should do the good cop/bad cop routine.

But she apparantly forgot all about it, because she was like a monkey that had gotten hold of the keys to the banana plantation. Something which put me at a certain disadvantage, bargaining-wise. But we got 10% off the asking price and they'll polish the headlights. Plus a three month 50/50 warranty.

Everything I checked seemed to be in order. No rust, no overheating, no clunky transmission, good tyres, and all the bells and whistles (some of which had their own little bells and whistles) seemed to be working as it should. One owner and all the yearly services had been done by Jaguar Norway.

I think we'll be happy with it.

Good stuff! I hope it's kind to you.

They do look good in black.

Hi Knut Are,

I saw the thread and photos you posted the other day but did not get a chance to comment.

She looks stunning, I mean your new Cat, as you did not share any photos of your favourite wife.

But, I would say that as you seem to have the twin of mine.

Hope you have a good time with her, I mean the Cat, not your wife - her as well.

By the way - when did they show the Clangers in Finland?

Hi,

That's one very nice looking car.

Very high spec as well. 16 function heated seats, sunroof, Homelink.

I hope you thoroughly enjoy the car :)

Congratulations Knut Are and favourite wife, we can only echo all of the above comments, and ditto that you may now become fully-paid members of the JOCGD (jaguar Owners Club Grin Department).     Out of interest, we did have a closer look at the rules and regs reference importing; what a headache!

Have a great Thursday,  and here are your whistley friends all ready to welcome your new acquisition.       As always, happy growling (with a modicum of whistling)

Very nice Knut Are, I'm sure you will enjoy owning an S Type and the grins will spread on the faces of you and your favourite wife!

Double wide grin driving home today. :yahoo:

I've heard about it, and on a purely intellectual level I could understand it, but now I'm a believer. :yahoo:

I love them both. And I suspect she loves the car even more than I do. :yahoo:

Norway, Stephen. Norway. I was 5 or 6, so it must have been in -71 or -72. In black and white.

Her reaction was: Eeeek! Gimme, gimme! I need it so bad! Can we take it home today?

For those of you who have seen Despicable Me, it was like Agnes and the fluffy unicorn.

The winter tires were in the back, so I didn't see this until now... How do I get the cover plate back on?
It would seem that it should slide on from the top so that the metal thingies locked with the other metal thingies, but no.

Did the seller provide a copy of the Owners manual with the car? Little use for skis here in the UK and unsurprisingly perhaps I do not have this option but I do recall seeing it when I leafed through the manual. If you do not have it I will copy the info from mine to you?

Hi

My STR has the ski hatch, but it looks like there's a chunk missing from yours

there should be two doors/covers, one opens from inside the boot and the other opens from inside the car and there should be a large ski bag there also

cheers

Joe

It is for skis? I thought it was for feeding the kidnapee.

It is. The book of words isn't clear on the subject of missing hatches, so when I read it yesterday it didn't make sense. But now, in the cold light of pre-coffee day, it's obvious that hatch A (in the Norwegian version hatch A is the one inside the car and hatch B is the one inside the boot) and the ski bag is missing, and that without hatch A, hatch B can't be locked.

Oh well, I'll put it on the never ending List Of Things To Do.

Haha, feeding the kidnappee! I must commend your command of the language and your sense of humour Knut Are, that was pretty funny

The problem with advancing years is that you set out to do one thing and come back having done something completely different. I intended to apologise earlier for my nationality gaffe but clearly I found something else to say. Anyway, apologies Knut Are for thinking you a Fin. Despite my previous visits to both Oslo and Helsinki I never discovered if there is any contention between you guys beyond that of who can get to the bar first like most other places.

That said, I had not pondered the food-hatch possibilities but now you mention it.......

We still love it.

I've tried many Audis, Beamers and Mercedii, but I must say that this is something else. It's a second slower from 0 to 100 (60 for the non-metric) than the Lil' Red Express Truck I had, but the fuel consumption is a third of that one, so I can live with that.

Don't worry about it, I'm actually half Finnish. My mother's parents came from Finland.

The hatch costs no less than 6500NOK (or approx £650, or a complete car in the UK), which I'm not going to pay. The next time my favourite wife and I see the Bees, we'll pay a visit to scrapyards as well. Are there any not too far from Brentford?
