I've recently bought the 2016 XF portfolio which has a Traffic Sign Recognition system installed, However, while appreciating that it is my responsibility to be aware of the correct speed limit, the system frequently shows the wrong speed either, I presume, because traffic signs have been missed/misread or it thinks I'm on a different road. For instance, driving in a 30mph zone it will suddenly show 70mph as the permitted speed albeit only for a short period. Have ant other XF owners experienced the same issues as the car has been checked out by the dealership and they can't identify any faults.

Thanks for any feedback, Keith

Hi Keith

My XF does something similar, I live in a 20mph zone and it fails to pick up that speed limit sign. On one occasion it misread the sign and displayed a National speed limit sign. Otherwise it’s just 3 dashes in a red circle. I don’t think it’s quite intelligent enough to use the sat nav to help it but relies on the camera. If the sign is not completely clear or has dirt or graffiti on it the. It makes a mistake.

Hope that helps

I have the same problem. On one stretch of road that I drive regularly it can display different speeds on different days, none of which are correct. I’ve come to the conclusion that as it can’t be relied on it must be ignored.

I do not have this problem with my s type as it does not have this system fitted.  However, SWMBO's Toyota Yaris has it and at a particular place of a local road is always picks up the previous road's speed limit.

Next time I am on the road I will look out for the sign as I think a tree is affecting it;

Peter.

Couldn't agree more........neither our S nor our XK nor our XJ8 have this technology.  We do, however, have a slightly older technology whereby we look at signs, our brain tells us what is occurring, and we adjust accordingly.

Sorry to sound cynical but this sounds worse than "SatNav said" whereby an errant motorist ends up in a ford or atop Snowdon via the Mountain railway!

Evening all, mind how you go

It is described as traffic sign recognition ... but is this the case ... could it not be using the satnav pre-programmed information to indicate speed limits?

In the same way that Tom-Tom satnav works
