I had to make a 20 mile trip this morning just as daylight broke.I found the number of deer on the road hazardous.I was forced to swerve and negotiate three times, a collision with a deer can make a serious mess of a prized X Type so I would respectfully caution you gentlemen if you come up here and drive on our rural roads watch out for Bambi.

Hi Walter,

Not just your part of the world Im sorry and glad to say (sorry because of the risk, glad because they're gorgeous animals).

Just after we bought our place on the Shropshire / Herefordshire border SWMBOs father had a run in with a young buck that did some serious damage to the front of his car and took out the windscreen as well - a few hundred quids worth of damage. Fortunately no injuries to the father-in-law and none to the deer as it apparently took off like a rocket afterwards.

Being cautious on country roads can be a tough lesson to learn and too many drivers think they are invulnerable. This lesson came home to me at a very young age when the son of a local garage owner acquired a V12 E Type Coupe just after they were introduced onto the market. Within a week he had managed to kill himself, his passenger, a rider and her horse. Needless to say the E Type was totalled as well.
