Uninsured car.

I have just came in and there were two idiots parked across the dropped kerb outside our house with just about enough space to let me manoevre the car in.

I checked both cars on Vehicle smart and one was uninsured since June.

I had great pleasure in watching him having a chat with a police officer.  I am now waiting for the tow truck.

I hope the Magistrates are not lenient!

Da iawn, Peter, da iawn.   (Welsh for well done, Peter, very good).

It is, indeed, annoying when we pay our dues and then some inconsiderate s....e carries on like that, with a strange sort of entitlement.   At the moment we are paying VED and insurance on our 3 Jaguars (the XK, the S, and the XJ V8) plus the Citroen "lorry" Grand Picassa, but at least we have nothing to fear from the NPR cameras and/or the DVLA tow/lift truck!!

In the pre-MID days I was once charged with driving with no insurance, despite having a policy in place, due to an error by the broker. I presented the police with my documents twice and yet charges were still pressed and I had to attend court (three times due to the officer not turning up twice).  When he finally did he was laughed out of court, but I wasn't laughing. I had paid my dues and so did every one else whose taxes pay for all that wasted police and court time. I also had to  pay for three days off work and 150 miles travel, but at least I got an apology, oh hang on, no I didn't...  Chances are these lads weren't insured but then maybe it was yet another database error, the sort DVLA make all the time.

Hail Peter and Well Done,

A good few years ago I was rear ended by an uninsured drive who punted my car into the one in front. Lost my NCB as a consequence and premium double the following year. As no one was injured the police were not interested and while I don't blame them I was nevertheless disgusted that they did not prosecute the guy responsible.

I suspect the only satisfaction we who pay our dues may ever get is to press the button on the Car Crusher but thats a bit unlikely. Shame.

No insurance is now a fixed penalty :(

Unless, of course, there are any other offences brought to light or the driver is a serial offender. I, for one, have ordered more than one deprivation order on cars, given the right encouragement ;)

It isn't a problem, Wat.  There were several coincidences at the time.  While I was getting the number of the local Police Station, there had been a road traffic accident and when the police car who came onto the scene he must have also checked the badly parked car as he called the tow truck.
