Hi everyone.

I am traveling this morning to collect my first Jaguar. It's a 2003(53) S Type 2.5 SE in light blue metallc ( Zircon Blue ?).

I look forward to talking to you in the future. I am already looking into retrofitting the touchscreen sat nav cd unit. Can anyone tell me if this is even possible ?

Anyway, here's to the future.

Best regards to all of you.

Shuggie

Welcome to the club. John.

You will enjoy the S Type  --   a great car and even 10 years after the last s type came off the production line it is still a head turner.

It's a pity  Jaguar discontinue the 2.5 litre engine, as it is a well tried and very reliable engine.

There are several members with great expertise on retro fitting and will be willing to assist.

Let us know what you think of your car on the drive home.

Regards,

Peter.

Thanks Peter,

I'm 2 hours away from picking it up and, I  may be 59, I'm getting quite excited about it.

Thank you for your welcome. I look forward to chatting in the future.

Regards,

John

Well, l wasn't disappointed !

I thoroughly enjoyed the 160 mile drive home !!

Unfortunately, as it was late afternoon when we started the drive home, dark was setting in, and with the weather seeming to be against us, the first part of the journey, apart from getting used to the car, was spent discovering the town and country side of the handling. A great introduction to the car. Quiet, comfortable and with light, but solid, handling.

The final 100 miles was motorway/dual carriageway. Chance to check out the higher speed handling, and the cruise control. My first time using cruise and, once I got used to it, I couldn't get enough.

All in all, I am well impressed with my S Type and I'm looking forward to many years together.

There were a couple of minor issues that I will probably seek advice on, but nothing to put me off !!

All the best to anyone who reads this.

Regards,

John

P.S.  R2e, you're dead right about the sat nav ! Not needed especially when you have a smartphone with Google maps !!

Very interesting to hear your opinion of your first Jaguar, John.

I quite like the Sat Nav on the s type although the 2012 disc is a little dated.  But as you say, the Google maps doe a very good job.  I know several other Jaguar owners who use iPhones all the time!

Cruise control on Jaguars is a rather easy operation and I use it on all long runs as it does give you a better mpg, and gentle cruising is the best way to travel on a long distance drive.

The s type, well looked after, is a real head turner, and certainly keeps me younger.  I intend to keep mine for ever  --  I don't know how long ever will be as I am 83!

Regards,

Peter.

Hi Peter.

Thanks for the reply. I hope I'm still driving when I'm 83 !! Good on ya !!

My intentions are to get on top of this car, make sure any little problems are dealt with, and then stay on top of it. I hope it's going to be a long romance !!

I do numerous trips a year from Anglesey to Scotland, then down to Nottingham, and back to Anglesey (getting on for 1000 miles, usually within 5 days) so I'll be testing the reliability of the S Type as well. I don't think it will cause any issues !

All the best,

John

Welcome to the Club Shuggie,

Clearly you were infected by the S Type grin on first contact. It is a very infectious disease with no known cure I'm pleased to say and even Petrol Stations cannot wipe the grin away. The only real downside is that after long journeys you will need to some Scottish Water to salve the aching cheek muscles - facial not the other end.:w00t:

Enjoy,

Steve

R2e and cubist,

you are both dead right, even the Cheshire Cat is jealous of this grin ! 😁

I'm looking forward to my 1000 mile round trip over Christmas and New Year. Apart from the Petrol stations that is !!

👍😊
