I had my S type [2.7D] terra cleaned 3 years ago and found that it did improve mpg and the engine performance.

It is more beneficial in cars with diesel engines than petrol.

Hi Ron,

Terraclean appears to be good on getting the emissions cleaned up a bit, but with the fuel system being a bit more complicated on diesels it does tend to benefit them more.

Nowadays, there are many additives for both diesel and petrol engines to keep the fuel systems clean and come in much cheaper.  I had problems with the EGR valves on my s type, and at first used a cleaning spray into the air intake, which was rather finicky, but I was advised that Miller Oils produced a product that did clean the EGR valves and injectors and after a year I have found that to does the job [Millers Eco Max].  They do a similar product for Petrol Engines.

Peter.

Hi

I would'nt use it in my car

if you have ever seen a cylinder head apart, it takes some serious scrapping to remove carbon deposits, or have a look at a EGR valve, it takes some serious elbow grease to get the carbon off

and you think a additive in the fuel, will clean it, there proven video's on the valve gear photographed before and after and there no difference

but I can tell you how the car performs better after and how the emissions are lower

when they do the process they use two canister of fuel/cleaner, they plumb the machine to the fuel rail and pull the fuse for the fuel pump, so the engine runs off the fuel in the machine

two canister of fuel has got to be over 2 liters, yet to burn 2 liters of fuel would take quite a while, but the process does not take that long, if the machines fuel pressure is set higher than the car fuel pressure regulator, then the access pressure would be sent back to the tank , adding there fuel to your tank, any octane boost added to the fuel, will make marked difference in performance and it will even drop the emission a good bit

a modern engine is designed to burn 100% of the fuel, other wise the cats get hot and get damage, so if the fuel burns how is Terra clean going to clean it and if it does disturb any carbon where's is going to go ?, stuck on a valve seat, stuck in the cat

if it actually works, why don't manufacturers recommend it

cheers

hi

on the wheeler dealer video, he disconnects the vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator

the vacuum line alters the fuel pressure slightly, so when the car idles the fuel pressure is slightly lower

the return fuel line is still connected

the fuel pressure regulator will still lift on over pressure, anywhere from 35 to 45 psi

if the machine runs a 50 psi or greater all the excess will go back to the tank

trust me I know some one who does it

ask any body who has had it done if they notice any difference after a few weeks

cheers

Joe

get some of this does the exact same

Joe has a point here.  I noticed a very good change and quite a leap in the mpg, but after about 6 weeks it had dropped by about 2 mpg.

I can still get a good mpg on a long run, even up to 5o mpg providing I am driving gently in cruise control

Hi Joe,

Interesting discussion.

Millers Oils has a very similar product to the one you have illustrated, and since I started using it a year ago I have not had the EGR warning light come on.

I might also have a look at the other product.

well well have now been told NOT to have a terraclean as this kills the s type injectors and there is a memo from H Q stating this very honest man saying it' not good now have to think why she is smoking badly on start up.

Hi Mike,

I had my car terra cleaned 4 years ago and it did have a good result lasting for a few months.  It never "Killed" my injectors and the car has run quietly and smoothly for all that time.

Smoking from the exhaust is usually a fuel issue.  Recommended to me was a product that sleazes the smoke issue called Diesel Magic and it certainly worked on my son's X Type 2.0DD, which was smoking badly pm start up.

Peter.

Thanks Peter,

this has come from terraclean themselves after I tried to book it in,  that's when he told me about HQ informing them about injectors and they now will not take any responsibility for them.

Thinks it's time to look at what's been posted
