Hello , I tried to retrofit xenon headlights to my 2006 2.7 S-Type which previously had regular ones. I'm having some trouble ,  the headlights just randomly goes out and on again. What should I do to fix that?

Thanks , they are genuine from a salvage car , where could I get that software? A Jag dealer?

Nothing has happened yet, but there's an outline plan to outlaw the legality, at MOT time, of fitting after market HID lamps to cars not fitted with them from the factory.

Whether it will happen remains to be seen, but it's not the best idea to go ahead with this modification until it'd made clear as to what IS going to happen.

hi

its not that easy,

for a start halogen and hid have different connectors, so you would have to cut and chop the wiring

then you would lose manual headlight level adjustment

cheers

I’ve done one or two retro-fits in my time but, having researched it, this, for me, is a bridge too far.

The headlight wiring needs significant re-wiring including re-wiing the fuse box relays but could be done if you’re up for the hassle and hve the tools to re-work the jaguar connectors, which we do.

Headlight wash we’ve done but what a PITA that is, even allowing for the loom being pre-installed

Automatic levelling was the real killer for me though. Just not worth the effort, so much so that I now have a new S-Type which already has HID :)

In the end I went for LED replacement bulbs on my previous car, arguably even better than HID.

Only my opinion of course
