Hello from me,,,

Just seeing if anyone can help me with some dimensions on the above or Jaguar xjc as I need to pick up a car in my covered in trailer, I know the sizes quouted on the web but as my trailer slopes down and in at the front like a bullet I need to know what it's the widest point across the front bumper and at what height ?

Thanks in advance

Hi Craig and Welcome to the Club,

Check out Wikipedia for entries concerning the DS these provide details of L/W/H and Wheelbase but little more. Beyond that I can only suggest you find a workshop manual for the marque you have as this may have more details concerning the height of bonnet and length from the nose to the windscreen but that may be a longshot.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Steve

Thanks for the replys ,

The information from Wikipedia only give overall measurements, the trailer shape is the problem at the front with the bullet shape, the car will fit for length but I don't want the corners of the bumpers rubbing on the nose of the trailer as it's not square to the end. It's just had a nut and bolt restoration and I want to keep the salt off it during the 4 hour journey.

Sadly its hard to get an understanding of scale from the picture but judging from the side profile there would not be a problem and the only further suggestion I could make would be to ask if you have measured the length of a line from just inside the rear doors, giving some clearance to avoid rubbing at that end, to the point at which the side panels start to close in. If that dimension is more than the length of the car happy days. If its marginal you may want to consider foam rubber with an outer shell of cardboard taped to all the rub points on the car.

Cheers,

Steve

Thanks for the suggestions ect,

I decided not to risk it fitting in without rubbing as it's just had a Niue and bolt restoration, I collected it today on my open trailer without issue and give it a good was with the power washer underneath whilst it was still on the trailer to remove any salt spray ect,,,

home safe and and sound and very happy ,,,

cheers guys,

Cheers Craig and enjoy the DS, I'm assuming that you will only take her out in fair weather so at least Jaguar Grin cheek-ache won't afflict you until then.

  • 1 year later...

We recently moved into an old house and I was clearing out the shed and came across this steering wheel. I know it has the Daimler brand but does anyone know what specific model it might be for? I thought maybe a Sovereign?

Welcome to the club, Stephen,

It's a pity there wasn't a car attached to it!

At a guess, I would place it in the early sixties, and again at a guess, I think you are right about the Sovereign .

You might get some one who would like it.

Regards,

Peter.

!7th March whatever year you want!
