Newbie XK Insurance advice

Hi 

 

Very excited to be picking up my 07 plate silver XK tomorrow, what a Jag for your first ever Jag! 

Advice on insuring the beautiful beast is what I'm after, of course I will check the Owners Club Insurance for a quote but is that the best way? 

Currently own a Range River Sport, Insured with 9yrs NCB under my wife name with myself as a named spouse driver. I myself have no NCB as for last 15yrs all our cars have been insured in my wives name. Keeping the RRS and adding the XK. Yearly milage on the XK is likely to be in the range of 5-6K. 

What do you clever insurance types think is the best way to insure?

It is hard to offer advice, since insurance premiums are so variable. I can only state the obvious: Shop around.

I found Direct Line incredibly cheap at £165 after being refused altogether by my previous insurer: Insurance Companies are hard to understand at times!

Same here I'd shop around, try some of the online shops like

moneysupermarket, go compare, confused, compare the market, these will give a good idea of insurance

also I tried Footman James, as I'm also a member of JDC, they gave me a great discount and were cheaper than all the above and there was only £50 excess

also sometimes its worth putting your spouse on the policy as well, as it can bring the premium down, with the online ones you can try it both ways to see which is best

Welcome to the club, Ben.

Shopping around is the best option as there are some curious differences.  We live in an "expensive" insurance area and there are some very expensive policies which don't tempt me.  The best deals I could get for both my s type and SWMBO's Toyota Yaris Hybrid were £470 and £345 respectively from Esure. I do about 5-6 K and SWMBO does about 2 -3 k.
