Hi, I hope someone can point me in the right direction.

I have a 2005 2.5 v6 auto petrol 64k on the clock. I have had this just over a year and have the same problem that seems to come and go it's showing code P2635 low fuel pressure. I have changed the fuel filter and plugs also used injection cleaner a couple of times had no problem for several months then it starts holding back like a misfire and clunking. the next day it seems to be okay. Only this time it has lasted for over a week. When I start from cold the revs seem to rise and fall for a few seconds. I have read a few posts where other members have had a similiar problem but there doesn't seem to be a definative answer. My mechanic is reluctant to change the fuel pump incase it doesn't solve the problem. I would really appreciate any advice anyone has as I'm at the end of my tether with this.

Thanks in anticipation

George.

have you checked the spark plugs/ coil packs?? maybe unrelated to the fuel, cars love throwing you off the scent!

to add its sooo hard to tell without seeing it as could be a air flow meter issue or a lambda sensor, allsorts. start with the plugs which is a obvious service item

Hi John,

Thanks for the reply ! I thought I hadn't posted this correctly or no one was talking to me. Sprk plugs were changed early on and quality plugs too. Ran like a dream for months.

As for  cars throwing you of the scent. I'm beginning to wonder it it's the readers so many on the market, I've had differrent devices plugged in, all point to fuel pressure.

I'm thinking it's so intermittent if it was electrical surely it would be a continious deteriating condition like overheating etc. I'm starting to think what if there was a kink or something in a fuel line or some sort of !Removed! floating around in the fuel system and every now and then turns up in the right place and causes a low pressure now and then. Stinks of ecu to me back to electrical ecu can cause intermittent fault without burning anything out.

Anyway here's the latest, last week got the passenger door message omg ! aswell as same old fault, courtesy light on couldn't lock it Nightmare ! so I found on here problem solved. I first sprayed the locks with electrical contact cleaner plenty of. then same with wd40 sorted ! next day same again with wd40 and next day cars running like a dream! wtf ! See how long it lasts.

The car is immaculate in and out low mileage so I thought the other day I'm gonna take it to jaguar dealer and pay through the nose. surely they  will have to find the fault? I've eliminated the fuel pump filter and plugs I also checked and cleaned the maf sensor. So if they change any of them and the problem returns surely I can keep taking it back for free till they solve it am I wrong?
