Hi Guys,

Is it just me or do other S-type owners get the same problem? As soon as we get warm weather and the cabin heats up, the alarm can randomly go off even though the car is single locked.

It happened with my last S-type and it's just happened with my latest S-type.

Is there a solution, or is the alarm just too sensitive? Any suggestions?

Hi Nick

your not alone :wallbash: I posted about this about 2 years ago (cant find the post sorry) I find that when the temp gets to about 24 / 25C off it goes. at first I thought it was someone setting it off deliberately (jealousy) even got a letter from the council about noise nuisance. anyway if memory serves one suggestion was to remove / isolate the sounder which is somewhere by the front drivers wheel arch. I didn't do that anyway. for a while I just kept my ears open, and ran out every time I heard an alarm, very frustrating! anyway long story short, we were at our Holiday home one weekend, and low and behold off it went. it was parked in direct sunlight on a very hot day, front of car facing the midday sun. (I previously tried the single locking and double locking made no difference) anyhow I turned her around so the front was shaded, no alarm. I now park her up the road in a place I know will be in the shade come the hottest part of the day (touch wood not happened again) not an ideal or workable solution for all, but not wanting to remove the sounder, and perhaps jeopardise invalidating insurance, this was the solution that worked for me.

I don't know if it's sensitivity can be altered, I imagine its not setup to monitor Heat? just a quirk I guess, or perhaps as was also suggested to me the back up battery could be the issue due to age?

sorry not much help, as I stated above your not alone

regards

Steve

Hi Steve,

I'm glad someone else has had the same problem!  I did do a bit of reading up on the matter and came up with the same suggestions, but nothing concrete.

It's interesting to note that my previous S-Type, which I bought from new, used to do the same thing almost from day one. The dealer said they never heard of it and couldn't do anything unless they could repeat the fault. Needless to say, it didn't do it when in their hands (or that's what they told me).

It's a hot day out there and, so far, no alarm. But I'll keep my ears open ;)
