I have been asked by members about meets and events in the Midlands.   Lancaster Jaguar in Tamworth are going to the trouble of hosting an event for the Jaguar Owners Club at their premises in Tamworth  --- easy to get to with good motorway connection. Bring your Jaguars out for the day  --  old and new all welcome, and the best three cars will receive an engrave Plaque.

Let me or Mandi Rawlings know if you are interested in attending.  You can do that by replying to this post,  Regards,  Peter

ATTENDANCE LIST (so far)

2. oswestryalex
3. Mark Five (possibly?)

I could potentially be interested - it depends on the date. I visit Leominster fairly regularly, so if the dates coincide I could be interested.

Regards, Mark

Hi Mark,

It is a Sunday  --   22nd July.

Tamworth is a nice town and worth a Sunday Trip.  Lancaster Jaguar is very easy to get to.

Regards,

Peter.

sounds like a good day out and chance to meet other owners. Is this definitely happening? If so will put in my diary and try and get there - not to show, as my S Type would need some work to be up to those standards....

Hi Alex,

Definitely on.  Mandi Rawlings of Lancaster Jaguar, Tamworth has made sure that the Dealership car park is available for all those attending.

I live only 10 minutes away and will be there at 10.00 am.

Regards,

Peter.

Hi Peter,

I shall put it in my diary and try and get over there. I had the trans fluid and filter changed in my auto box (84K miles on clock) and it feels really smooth. I have to say the S Type gets admiring looks wherever I go (eg filling stations) - so much for the panning by Top Gear; how wrong could they have been? And it  reminds me very much of my old XJ6 4.2 auto - a series 2 car that I had for a couple of years back in the 80s, and regretted selling. I now have a replacement battery and my radio code, so can do that job too... just need to get my second refurbished key fob programmed in to the car now, and I shall be a happy camper...😊

Good luck with that MOT! Mine is due end of July, so I am hoping it won't be too tough... I got the MOT history for my car before I bought it (and it has fsh too, thank goodness) so some of the items mentioned as advisories last year have been seen to and I hope to see it through OK. The sills are a common weakness, I have heard - are there any obvious warning signs to look out for? There's covers over them I think...

Sunday 22nd July is a very good day to bring your Jaguar and SWMBO to Lancaster Jaguar in Ventura Park, Tamworth for the Event hosted Lancaster Jaguar.

Old cars, new cars but definitely your cars!

It should be a very good day, and the opportunity to talk with those members of the JOC that you only know via the club Forums.

Looking forward to seeing a lot of members.

Peter.

I shall indeed try and get there. What would be perfect is if  I could organise my spare key  to be programmed in while I was there... ☺️  but that would  be asking too much, it being a Sunday... But all being well, I shall be there to meet up with people and see some cars!

Hi Peter,

thanks - if it were possible to get the keys programmed in together (or however they do it) - right now only one fob works remote opening the doors, but both keys will start the engine. I could get it done at Jaguar in Shrewsbury, but that is 30 miles from me too, so if I happen to be down there and they could manage that, I'd be really grateful.

It will be good to see people from the club who are there and see what sorts of Jags they drive. All the best,  Alex.

Oh dear! the stuff nightmares are made of, eh? I was reading a Jaguar cars history and it was commenting on how cars from the 1950s and 60s are rust buckets by design... i.e. it wasn't really considered back then - by any car manufacturer. I've seen an old Rolls Royce with some choice corrosion on it too.... Our problem has to be the salting and gritting of the roads to keep them from freezing up, so that cars that have lived their lives on roads that haven't been treated are in great condition.

All the same, the very best of luck getting this repaired, and I hope some decent protection for the future as well.   Cheers,  Alex.
