Hi Andy,

Any warning lights at all?

Have you got access to a OBD2 code scanner?

What miles has the car done and has the gearbox Oil and filter been changed at all?

Cheers,

Steve

iv Just bought the car so I havnt got a clue when or if the fluid and filter has been changed.

the car has done just over 163,000 miles but was told the engine was changed to a engine with 80 somit thousand miles no sure when tho as Iv got no paper work with the car but looks like coolant and engine Oil has been changed recently

Hi Andy,

Raistlin is right so best first option is to get the Oil and filter changed as soon as you can on the assumption its never been done.

The OBD2 connector is to the left and underneath the steering wheel in the footwell. It can be a bit a faff to connect, I always have to kneel outside the car to get eyes on while I fit the scanner, but once done you should be able to read any DTCs recorded in the various systems.

By the way Raistlin recently posted a thread containing links to workshop and owner manuals for the S Type that I think covers your car. Just do a search on some of his past posts or on Workshop Manuals.

Fluid level at best. Torque converter at worst, I'd say.

There’s a gearbox fluid leak just a slight one but I’m just waiting for the parts to turn up then get it done
