Hello,

I am looking for a little advice as I am at my wits end.

I got a Nextbase Dash Cam for Christmas and the wiring kit to sire it into the fuse box. I have everything wired up and the camera gets power but the power does not seem to go off when I turn the car off.

I have tried a few different fuses in the box in the drivers footwell but none seem to cut the power when the car is off.

Has anyone else done this? If so which fuse did you link the camera to? I am worried if I leave it connected and powered on that the battery will be drained.

Thanks

Hi Kyle and welcome to the club.

I have had a Nextbase Dashcam fpr a couple of years but I have not bothered wiring it directly, but just use the power source to connect it. It is very easy to disguise the wire and does the job OK.

Regards,

Peter.

Don't know which fuse it goes 2 but camera should fully shut down when car is locked and start up on entry just leave car 4 a short time to check. It takes about a minute to fully shut down on mine it confused Halfords fitters who thought it would be live constantly but trust me after locking car and watching through back window it will shut down

So apparently Halfords would be correct in this case. I spoke to an engineer at the Jaguar dealership and they confirmed that the fuses are constatly live in these cars. They are too clever for their own good.

Hi Kyle

Dont know if this would work but can you wire it to the ignition of the car so power is stopped when the ignition is off ?

I just connect my dash cam to the power point and it switches off when the ignition is switched off. The wiring can be easily disguised.

Peter.
