Out of interest I entered my 2014 XF Sportbrake 2.2 VIN into the website "VINDECODERZ", as I wanted to check which add-ons had been included.

Up popped 3 options, it was either an X type, an XJ6, or an X400, 2015 model with a 4.0L petrol engine based in California.

I know it was a LHD export vehicle to Germany, and then came to France where I am now the proud owner, and having bought it through a Jaguar dealer. I've accessed the on-line service record and everything is OK. And it is definitely not a stolen vehicle!

Seems rather unusual, anyone else had peculiar answers to their VIN search?

Hi Carpo,

Your experience seems very similar to my own - the car identified was nothing like mine (although it was a Jaguar, just not an XF!).

Tried again for my wife's Audi TT - site came back with an Audi A4.

It's a pity - would have really liked to know the exact spec when the cars were ordered. Ho hum!

Hi Carpo,

Further to my previous post, I found that www.autodna.com gives accurate results (at a cost of about 7euros), absolutely correct for both my XF-S and my wife's TT. I didn't learn much, but it was interesting!

Cheers,

Jon
