I am not renewing my JDC membership because the magazine has gone down the tubes since the editor left last year. I want to get a discount with Footman James for being a member up until now, but the club head office can’t find my deatails to pass on. Apparently all the staff have left apart from one and they had a flood that destroyed all records. Very unhelpful attitude. Any ideas? Many thanks in advance.

Hi

Cant you find your membership card or log on to the site where you would get your online magazine and get your membership number

if you use firefox or google browsers, they save you user name and passwords, you will be able get your member ship number from there if you use the online mag, as your membership number is part of your login

I only a member of the JDC as it save me a fortune in insurance with Footman James, mines a lot cheaper than any other company and the cover is so much better

Cheers

Hi David,

Thanks for the message and we'd certainly like the opportunity to try and better the quotation you've had.

If you could message me your full name and a contact telephone number I can arrange a call back.

Thanks,

Dan

Ok, it's 2 years ago but how do you get £170? I'm 60, got maximum NCB, clean licence etc. and paid Hastings more than double that for a 2002 Volvo S60 last September! And they were the cheapest I could find. The only add-on was legal cover.

I know insurance companies have these rip off rules that charge you more if you're married/not married, type of job, where you live and so on but I don't get how someone can get insurance for under half the price in what I assume are similarly powered and valued cars.

Incidentally I will be shopping around again come renewal time in September.

Thanks, good to know. IT's not as though I'm in the middle of a city centre or high risk area and I only do around 4k a year so I don't understand where they get the prices from. Some of the quotes I got were over £1800, so clearly a lot of companies are ripping people off and it needs tougher regulation.
