Hi,

I would be very grateful to hear from members that have taken the bold step of fitting a front and rear dash cam to their S - Type. (Mine is a December 2003 3.0 litre SE Plus with additions)  I am very nervous about the whole procedure. I foolishly mentioned that the thought had passed my mind to our daughter, sensibly discounting it when I considered the implications regarding the potential horror of "wire concealment" in the headlining to entering the top of the centre armrest (to access the aux power socket) - hard wiring being totally out of the question given my lack of knowledge and the complex wiring of the S - Type.

My daughter may have misread my comments (or was setting me a challenge?), bless her, as for my birthday last week presented me with the Nextbase 322gw front and rear dash cam set !! My dilemma is clear - I plan to fit tomorrow !! Members I await your wisdom.........................please.....

Many thanks, Dominic.

Hi Dominic, came across your post from last year about the front and rear dashcam. I would not even think about going to the 12v socket in the centre armrest box. I have had my last 3 cars hardwired with the same camera and have never paid the auto electrician more than £50. I could not find another post detailing how you went on.

Best wishes,

Alan.

The roof liner is quite easy to remove, the wires can be squeezed into the pillar covers and buy a special fuse with live terminal, fits into the passenger fuse box. I asked a local vehicle specialist about this and they said it's not that bad. I would've done this myself but all I would record is my awful driving!

Hi just a line to say i have the nextbase 522 a long with the rear camera. Not sure what the problem was but if i plug it into the lighter socket the cameras work fine. if i hard wire it (which i did) made sure it had a good earth ect sometimes the camera not switch off and i would come back to a over heated camera so would have to let it cool down before it would work again. Went back it the lighter socket and no problems again. used fuse F32 which is the one they  said to use. ( also used the nextbase hard wire kit)
