Hi guys a question if you don't mind.

I recently purchased a 2009 jaguar xf 3.0 d premium lux.

128,000 full jag main dealer history last one being an A service.

Car drives perfect etc in every way but there's one small niggle.

I hear a kind of hum/drone coming from front passenger side, usually around town and around the 30 35 mph range.

It's not tyres or bearings etc as had a full jag health check when serviced.

I hear it's usually a normal sound sometimes put down to high pressure fuel lines etc.

Can anybody shed any light?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Karl,

Can't really comment since I have no experience of such a noise (mine is a 2011 XF-S),

Despite the service history, it might still be a wheel bearing, mebbe?

Also, mine came with dodgy tyres (quickly replaced!), maybe a cause?

Cheers,
Jon

Hi,.the bearings are free,no play,4 x new quality tyres fitted and Lazer geometry set up.

After reading lots of posts now on other sites they say it's a resonating sound caused by the high pressure fuel lines associated with the 3.0 d,a known issue that didn't warrant a recall apparently.

It's not intrusive as such just niggles me a little, apart from that I love the car..
