Cooling fan comes on when engine gets up to temp

Hi, i have a 1 yr old xf r sport. Recently i have started doing long trips in it ans since then the main fan will come on once the engine is upto normal temp. It sounds very loud also. I mean very loud. If i turn off the engine and restart, the fan will not come on for a couple of minutes, but then off it goes again. The car has had a recent service and all coolant levels etc seem ok. I have never noticed this in the past yr and so i presume there is a problem somewhere. Can anyone advise please.

Update.  Sent it back to dealer.  Mechanic took it out and said he'd never heard of problem before. Fan came on as expected so he took back to dealers. When I arrived later to pick up courtesy car he said he'd had another in with same problem.  Apparently it's the water pump faulty. It goes through warm up stages and if it sticks it will just fire up the fan.  New water pump is being fitted.
