Afternoon all. Please forgive a question from a technical ‘no hoper’. Viewed a really nice used XF this morning- all looked good until I lowered an electric window. Went down ok but when tried to raise again a tiny area of window appeared along with a loop of cable. After that a lot of rotation noises but no window. Am I looking at something complex to fix or a small job do you think? Any advice much appreciated

Hi Kev,

Just came across your post.

I had this problem a few years ago.  On a very hot day and after the car had been sitting in the sun for many hours, I tried to open all the windows and suddenly I heard a clanging noise coming from the right rear door.

What had actually happened is the glass had fallen out of the frame.  Something to do with the adhesive had melted.  The cable is you mention is attached to the motor and is what raises and lowers the window.

I had to take to dealer to get glass refitted.

Hope this helps.

Roy
