Has anyone else been disappointed by the fact that Jaguar only provide a digital manual for the latest XE 2020 model ?

I think this is a disgrace over £37,000 for an otherwise excellent car  but no printed manual, Service book or any other printed literature.

I have noticed that they are for sale on Jaguars site as "replacement" items but at over £45 this is extortion.

Yes that's definitely a bit over the top but some things never change, I remember my father buying a new Land Rover back in the 1950s, optional extras were a passenger seat, a passenger side window wiper and a spare wheel. A handbook is an essential item however and it's going to take a lot of printing.

Sadly there's a lot of this sort of thing going on, they'll claim it's to help save the planet but in reality it's to help them save a wad of cash.

We got lots of naggy emails from our utility company, asking us to "go digital and save the planet", i.e. get them to stop sending paper statements. But they offered no bill reduction. Now think about it, 12 million customers who are sent a bill 4 times a year, at, say, a cost of £1 per letter including the postage, envelope and printed paper. That's a £48 million saving for them every year but more work for you because you now had to log in to their site, and download and print if you want a paper statement. Very clever really, a huge saving for them and no real benefit for us.

On a car? Hmm....not sure. Most things you pick up as you're using it, and I suppose the fairly reasonable argument is that you get one built in to the car's system and dowloadable to your computer. If it's done right it should be easily searchable to read on your phone, tablet or computer. Is it something we really use that much? Mine's tucked inside the spare wheel on my 19 y.o. Volvo and to be honest I don't think it's ever been opened.
