Good evening,

Firstly I have to confess...I am an interloper who doesn't actually own a Jaguar.  However, I am very close to buying one, albeit to rob it of it's drivetrain, and I would appreciate some advice.  My son and I are building a kit car...and the AJ30  is our engine of choice. We have been all around the houses with other engine choices but always come back to the Jaguar.  Our problem is that we need a transverse 2 wheel drive manual installation, and I don't think that combination exists in the Jaguar line up.

So, in a nutshell, can anyone tell me whether the ford or Mazda boxes are a straight fit?  Or are there other transverse options out there?

Alternatively, what would be the effect of disconnecting the drive to the rear wheels on a 4wd x Type. Does the ECU talk to the gearbox and start shuffling the torque around?  And likewise would the ECU get confused if the auto box on an S-type was replaced with let's say for argument sake a manual ford box from an ST220.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Thank you.
