Hi guys I’ll be looking to renew all my discs on a 2008 XF 2.7 diesel and was wandering if the pistons will compress by hand or di I need a jacking back tool?

It's compressed by hand. I purchased a brake piston pusher thingy off eBay.  Makes it a lot easier.
