2.0 diesel won’t start or turn over

Went out in the snow to start my x type 2.0 diesel, waited for the glow plug lights to go out and turned the key (no sound/click and no crank from the car). I’m at a loss any advice would be most appreciated.

The fist thing you must do is check your battery is fully charged and in good condition 

and how old it is ???
