3l vs 2.2l

So I've be busy these last few months looking for a low mileage 3l XF facelift but have been struggling to find one with the spec I want. I'm looking to spend up to 12k. For the same price I can get a 2.2l but much lower mileage than the 3l. I had a test drive in a 3l on a 14 plate and loved the power. I know the 2.2l won't be as powerful but can anyone tell me any other differences please

Many thanks

Dave

hi Dave, i have a 2.2 portfolio and love it. why not get one and remap it? mine is the 200bhp version and i got a stage 1 remap for £249 and have an alledged 235 bhp! i didnt put it on a rolling road but its made alot of difference specially from a standing start and acceleration is great and i still get 50 mpg doing 70 mph, usually i get 45 mpg doing 70 and a bit on the motorway!!😉 1 bit of advice i would give is get one with the blindspot monitors, its a lifesaver  due to massive blindspots on the car, good luck you wont regret it

Just power and 3ltr is a little heavier are the main difference as specs options pretty much the same.

Servicing cheaper on 2.2 not buy a lot and suspect tyre wear would be slightly higher on the 3.

Both good..

hi.i have the 2.2 and agree it is a bit agricultural not as smooth as the 3L but it has more than enough power for me, been very impressed with my jag great drivers car and would have another 2.2 ,you only really hear it when accelerating other than that its very quiet

agree the engine can be a little harsh but like i said before if you get the 190 or 200bhp one and remap it its just like the 3 litre, test drive both and pick your favourite. either way get a remap and enjoy!! road tax for my 2.2 is £155 no idea what the 3 litre is but assume its higher, good luck with your choice,
