Electronic Handbrake

Hi I am lookin g at a s type and it has an  electronic handbrake.

I had a Jeep with one and I had trouble with it.

Does any one have one in their S type please.

Have you had any problems?

its hit and miss, unfortunately, some people get problems, some don't

I've had my S-type R for 6 years and never had any problems what so ever, though its well looked after

the electric park brake works really well, you just apply it and pull off when required and it releases itself

these cars are getting old now so lack of maintenance can be a issue

but try it at least a dozen times, big problem can be a low battery that can cause issues, also damp in the boot can make the park brake module fail

I have had my s type with the electronic handbrake which caused me some trouble.

I have now made sure that my battery is always charged [Thank you CTEK] and only one problem in the last 5 years which was cured with a new battery.

I was a bit unsure whether to buy one with an electronic brake because of the problems i had  with the Jeep.

Bought my 2006 s type 2 years ago no problems at all. Car service every year at mot time by my trusted local garage. At MOT time

I am looking at 2 cars next week.

Looked at 2 yesterday but dealer had not been completely honest about them.

In fact I could not drive one as seat controls not working!

I had probs with the parkbrake on mine along with a couple of minor glitches. It needed a new battery after a couple of weeks. That cured some of the problems but the parking brake played up every few days. Turning the ignition off and locking the car then unlocking was a temporary fix. I remove the negative cable from the battery/car, soldered the cable in the terminal, Cleaned the contact and thread on the bodywork and refitted cable. After a year I have had no more problems with the brake or the other glitches. The battery voltage is very important on these cars to keep them purring.

My S Type has electronic handbrake. I have not experienced any problems with it. I keep my battery well charged and conditioned on a regular basis with  CTEX MS 7.0. Well worth their money with the amount of problems that I see reported with low battery charge on S-Type`s.
