My 2001 xk8 overheats after new thermostat, water pump and complete flush of system and correct anti freeze. Does not seem to do it if I tun the heater on high

Running the heater on high to keep the temperature down would suggest air in the system. Try “burping” the system to ensure all air has been expelled.
